Glued: DM’s and Shakespeare

What a combination! I love Shakespeare with a passion. I grew up on the arts, and from a very early age I had to participate in acting, singing (which I hate to do unless showering with the flu) and ballet. I was made aware of fashion and trends too, in fact I a asked my aunty the other day what happened to the umbrella she bought me from Harrod’s was, she told me I lost it (I was around the tender age of 4… a lot of things happened then, like the obsession with Playboy and wanting to marry Freddy Kruger).

Since this season is all about bringing in British Heritage trends into fold, I’ve been working on a list of items I’ll need for my Vintage Rockafella look, with a British twist for the summer. What better item of clothing will I need with a lovely vintage styled dresses? New Dr. Marten’s! Hopefully soon I’ll get a new pair or two. I went on the DM’s website and they have a new campaign advert, seen all over fashion websites and in magazines for the new 1461 range of shoes and boots. The video, on the site, a guy recites a famous speech from Richard II written by Shakespeare and i just gaped my mouth. What a way to combine the British/English feel with fashion and the rich culture and history of the iconic brand! So I just thought I’d share with you all!

Once i get hold of new DM’s (Its been a few years… o.O) I’ll photograph them and you folks can see =]

This royal throne of kings, this sceptred isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,–
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England.
William Shakespeare“King Richard II”, Act 2 scene 1
Greatest English dramatist & poet (1564 – 1616)
