My Love for the Yogic Arts

“Definition from Ayurveda: State of union between two opposites – body and mind; individual and universal consciousness; a process of uniting the opposing forces in the body .”

I’ve been practising Yoga intensively for almost 2 years. Before that, for a few years I did the odd pose here and there due to a magazine I was collecting. They gave away different poses every week and accompanied them with the Yoga Sutras. I would recommend the Yogic Arts to anyone!! They are a great way to keep I shape, to be more flexible and to loose weight. Just like belly dance, you learn to connect yourself with the universe through a means of exercise. You begin to breathe better and properly which is a bonus. The one thing I enjoy about Yoga, besides the poses and the sutras, is the grounding meditations at the end of every session. You connect yourself to the higher energies and you really REALLY feel it!!
“The word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘Yuj’ which essentially means to join or unite. The union referred to is that of the individual self uniting with Cosmic Consciousness or the Universal Spirit. Yoga is a means to achieving this goal.

Born in India, almost 26,000 years ago, Yoga is believed to have evolved during the period of the ‘Sat Yuga’, also called the Golden age. This period became known as a time of everlasting peace and abundant blessings, filled with seekers of the Eternal Truth. That is why, probably, even today we associate yoga with sages and hermits.

It was not until the discovery of the Indus- valley civilization, the largest civilization, that knowledge about the origin of Yoga surfaced. Excavations give evidence of yoga’s existence during this period; yogi -like figures engraved on soapstone seals have been unearthed. In fact, it was the Aryans, migrating from the north- west, who were instrumental in discovering yoga.”

If you have never done Yoga, then check out the Kundalini series, these are sets of exercises I use as a Wiccan to charge my Chakras. They are simple and lots of fun… but funny enough after some sessions I feel like one of the missing Beatles groupies!!! Lol!!

Hope you like it!! I would love to do more on ‘easy’ fitness as running just daunts me… Lol!
Em Hotep!
